Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Evergreen shrub, able to grow up to 1 m tall.
Foliage Ovate to ovate-elliptic leaves, measuring 4 - 10 cm long and 2 - 3.5 cm wide.
Flowers Tubular white fragrant flowers, turns from white to cream upon aging. 
Fruit Fruit is a capsule, turning to orange when ripen, smooth and glabrous, measuring about 7 mm wide.
Etymology Genus name Brunfelsia is derived from 16th century German monk, Otto Brunfels, who was referred to as the ‘Father of Botany’ because of his significant research contribution to botany. Species nitida means with a polished surface.
