Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Herb to 1m tall
Foliage Leaves mid - dark green,  lanceolate, to 30cm in length, mid rib light green. Petioles to 60cm long.
Flowers Sepals to 8cm in length, to 8cm long by 1 cm wide, dark purple - dull olive green with dull red or purple flush. Lateral petals white, to 2cm long by 0.2cm wide, apex or tips curled backwards. Basal part of lip dull pinkish purple or purple, narrow, widening into a suborbicular (almost round)  white blade just beyond the laciniate stigma. Mid vein on the blade of lip as a raised ridge.
