Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A terrestrial orchid, it has a climbing growth habit and climbs by means of its rhizomes. 
Foliage The leaves are lanceolate and plicate and measure up to 15 - 30cm in length and 3 - 6cm wide. 
Flowers The flowers are formed on inflorescences of which only 1 or 2 flowers are open at a time. The flower inflorescences are produced after the rhizomes have climbed to a certain height. 
Habitat It is found growing in lowland, swamp and hill forests.
