Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Fast growing, robust vine
Foliage Leaves elliptic to ovate, glabrous or occasionally very slightly hairy, light to yellowish green in specimens growing under high light conditions, otherwise dark green.
Flowers Flowers fragrant. Corolla lobes white with a purplish red tinge towards the corona. Corona lobes white.
Habitat Epiphyte in rainforests or coastal forests near mangroves; is also known to grow as a lithophyte.
Associated Fauna In its native range, this species is a foodplant for the caterpillars of the following butterfly species from the family Nymphalidae:  Euploea alcathoe (Striped Black Crow), Euploea boisduvalii, Euploea core (Common Crow) and Tirumala hamata (Blue Tiger Butterfly). The known pollinator for this species is a butterfly, the Greenish Grass Dart (Ocybadistes walkeri) from the family Hesperiidae.
