Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Large epiphytic fern, usually found growing on trees.
Foliage Fronds are dimorphic with both sterile fronds and fertile fronds, sterile fronds green and recurving when old, measuring about 90 - 115 cm long and 90 - 135 cm wide.
Reproductive Parts - non-flowering plant Semi-circular soral patch found on the underside of the fertile frond, measuring about 10 - 45 cm long and 8 - 35 cm wide. 
Etymology Genus epithet Platycerium derived from Greek terms 'platys' (broad) and 'keras' (horn), a reference to the antler-like nest-fronds. Species grande means large and showy.
