Description and Ethnobotany
Growth Form | It is a tree up to 40 m tall. Its greyish brown bark is shallowly fissured. It has buttress roots up to 1 m tall. |

Foliage | Its spirally arranged, stalked leave have papery to leathery leaf blades that are narrowly drop-shaped, 8–15 by 3–5 cm, and hairless and glossy above. |
Flowers | Its male flowering shoots are 10–20 cm long, whereas the female or bisexual flowering shoots are 10–15 cm long. Its male flowers grow in clusters of 3, while the female flowers are solitary and rarely grow in clusters of 2–3. |
Fruit | Its depressed ovoid fruits are chocolate-brown, hairless, glossy, and 2–2.5 cm long. Its stalkless cupules are saucer- or cup-shaped, and 0.5–1 cm long. |
