Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Small to medium sized tree, growing up to about between 10 - 20 m tall.
Foliage Simple leaves, lanceolate to oblong, measuring 6 - 18 cm long, 2.5 - 6 cm wide, petiole 3 - 5 mm long, margin entire, glabrous on both surfaces.
Fruit Fruit is a capsule, elliptic-oblong, measuring 20 - 25 mm long and 10 - 13 mm wide.
Habitat Can be found in open lowland rainforest.
Etymology Genus Lagerstroemia is named after Magnus von Lagerstrom of Goteborg (1696 - 1759), friend of Linnaeus.
