Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Shrub or small tree with a rounded crown that grows up to 6 m in height.
Foliage Light green, glossy leaves are deeply veined and have a distinct drip tip (acuminate leaf apex). Leaves are oblong to elliptic with entire leaf margin (up to 30 cm long). 
Flowers Large, lightly fragrant flowers are trumpet-shaped with 5 curled lobes and a very long throat (25 cm long). Petals are initially white and gradually turn pale yellow. About 6 greenish yellow, linear sepals are arranged radially, forming a star-shaped pattern. Flower occur singly in the leaf axils and hang downwards. 
Fruit The fruit is round or somewhat pear-shaped.
Habitat Occurs in primary and secondary forests.
Etymology The species epithet "longiflora" is Latin for long flowers.
