Cultivation | This free-flowering cultivar has an attractive crown shape which regularly becomes dotted with bright orange flowers. It is ideal as a roadside tree or shade tree for parks. This cultivar has a moderate growth rate and has a high tolerance for salt, drought and nutrient poor soils. However, it is sensitive to soil compaction. For optimal growth, it should be planted in fertile, well-drained soil and fed once or twice a year. Saplings should be pruned at the branch tips to encourage a bushy growth form. They begin to bloom at about 3 years of age. This cultivar is susceptible to beetles, scale insects, mites and rust. |
