Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Shrub with a tree-like growth form up to 1.8-4.6 m tall.
Foliage Thin, flexible leaves (33-51 cm long, 3.8-5 cm wide) are linear with tiny, inconspicuous teeth along the margin. The leaf tip tapers to a point, but is unarmed. Young leaves are blue-green, but turn light green at maturity.
Flowers White flowers with purple or red tints (3.8-5 cm long) are arranged in a branched cluster known as a panicle. The panicle is borne on a 0.6-1.2 m long stalk with the lower portion resting among the leaves.
