Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An erect shrub that may reach up to 1 - 2 m tall when in full growth. 
Foliage Leaves are alternately arranged along the stem, elliptical in shape, pinnate venation and toothed leaf margin. 
Flowers Flowers are orange, star-shaped, composed of 5 petals with pointed tips. 
Etymology The genus Turnera is named in honour of Reverend William Turner , Tudor botanist of Wells, author of A New Herbal (1568)(Turneraceae). The specific epithet aurantiaca means resembling an orange, which refers to the orange flower colour.
