Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A dense, deciduous shrub which grows upright to about 150 cm tall.
Foliage Leaves are oval and have sharply-toothed margin. 
Flowers Flowers borne on clusters (corymb), tiny and pink in colour. 
Cultivation Remove spent flowers to encourage additional blooming. 
Etymology The genus Spiraea means garland which refers to the showy flowers.  The specific epithet japonica means from Japan, which is part of its native range.
