Etymology Genus "Pseuderanthemum" means False Eranthemum. Plants in the genus Pseuderanthemum are similar, yet distinct from those of the genus Eranthemum. The prefix "Pseudo-" is derived from the Greek word for untrue ("pseudes"). Species laxiflorum means loosely flowered.
