Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A perennial shrub with creeping stem and tufted. 
Foliage Leaf blades ovate to elliptic shape, measuring up to 3 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, base cuneate, apex acute, margin entire, short petiole of around 2 mm long. 
Stems Nearly glabrous (hairless), branched, and short internodes. 
Flowers Inflorescence, terminally located, head-like type, around 6 - 10 mm in diameter, short pedicel, pinkish petals. 
Etymology The genus Polygonum means many-joints. The specific epithet capitatum means head-like, which refers to the inflorescence shape.
