Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Small rhizomatous herb 8-15cm tall 
Foliage Leaves lanceolate, 8-15 cm long by 2.5-5cm wide, mid green with white, cream or pale yellow markings or striations along the edges of the leaf blade.  
Flowers Flowers to 3.5cm across, white. Lip bilobed, base color lavender, with a dark purple patch on either side of the lobe, towards the centre of the lip.

Water Preference Lots of Water, Moderate Water, Little Water, [Remarks] (This species requires regular watering and good humidity levels when it is actively growing. Watering should be scaled down to a minimum when plant enters dormancy period, during which the species may lose all its leaves. Resume normal watering levels when the new shoot emerges after the end of the dormancy period. )
Planting Remarks Prefers a well drained, sandy-loam soil mix. Excessive watering can cause the rhizomes to rot. 
Fertilizing Feed only when plant is actively growing. A dilute liquid fertilizer can be applied once ever week or on a 2-weekly basis to encourage growth and flowering.
