Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a large herbaceous plant grows about 3-4 m tall.
Trunk Its 'trunk' is herbaceous, which is a pseudostem made from tightly packed leaf sheaths.
Foliage Its leaves are large and paddle-shaped. The leaf blades are torn into many pieces, making a characteristic shredded look to the plant.
Flowers Its inflorescence is long and pendulant. The showy bracts are light-pink, fading to pale green at the margins. The inconspicuous flowers are green, hidden inside the bracts.
Cultivation It can grow under full sun and partly shaded areas. Keep the soil moistened. Occasional misting is necessary to maintain high humidity around the plant.
Ethnobotanical Uses Cut - Dried Flower: The inflorescence are commonly used for flower arrangement. It can last about one week.
