Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A perennial evergreen epiphyte. 
Foliage Leaves broadly elliptical or ovate, dark green sometimes red-tinged, measures up to 40 cm long and 22 cm wide, broadest at middle, has white main veins, apex acuminate, base deep lobed.
Flowers Inflorescence, spathe measure 8 cm long, narrow or oblong-lanceolate, green with reddish tinge; spadix yellow.
Fruit Infructescence, measures 12 cm long, berries are narrowly ovoid, purple with white tinge.
Etymology The genus Anthurium means flower-tail, which refers to the tail-like spadix.
