Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A herbaceous creeper, it has a climbing, creeper and semi - epiphyte growth habit and climbs using its roots.
Foliage The leaves are arranged alternately along the stems. The young leaves are triangular in shape with a cordate leaf base. The mature leaves are very deeply lobed with 5 to 11 lobes per leaf. The leaves exude a white sap when broken. 
Stems The stems exude a white sap when broken. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on a spadix and tend to be borne close to each other, the spathe is green. 
Fruit The fruit is in a form of a brown syncarp, wrapped inside the red spathe.
