Description | Slender and laterally compressed body, usually brown with greenish-blue spots, or brown with two stripes along the length of the body, depending on "mood" of the fish. Has a robust head, circular caudal fin, broad-based anal fins that has a pointed tip at rear end. Adults have throats that have bright green coloured scales. |

Ecological Notes | Occurs in fast-flowing forest streams with sandy bottoms. Feeds on small invertebrates, including insects. Males brood fertilized eggs in their mouth until the eggs hatch. |
