Description

Size 10 cm
Description Slender and laterally compressed body, usually brown with greenish-blue spots, or brown with two stripes along the length of the body, depending on "mood" of the fish. Has a robust head, circular caudal fin, broad-based anal fins that has a pointed tip at rear end. Adults have throats that have bright green coloured scales.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Occurs in fast-flowing forest streams with sandy bottoms. Feeds on small invertebrates, including insects. Males brood fertilized eggs in their mouth until the eggs hatch.
Habitats Forest, Freshwater
Distribution In Singapore, it is found widely through Nee Soon Swamp Forest, as well as nature reserves. Worldwide, it is found in the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra.
