Description

Description Head broad, distinct from body. Snout black, an oblique black stripe across the eye. Body thick-set and cylindrical, grey with black-edged dark brown rectangular saddles along back. In hatchlings, the back is orange while the saddles are black. Scales keeled. Underside white with small black spots.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Nocturnal. Ovo-viviparous. Feeds on fish and frogs. Mildly venomous. 
Habitats Forest, Freshwater, Aquatic, Pond
Distribution Distributed in Southeast Asia from Indochina to western Indonesia.
