Description Upperparts blackish brown with white markings, underparts white. Wings are distinctly white. Short muzzle and short tail. Adult males have a throat pouch. Legs and feet are hairless.

Distribution Nocturnal and insectivorous, this bat roosts in colonies which can vary from a few to a few hundred. Also roosts in rock crevices, hollow trees, and buildings. In Singapore, it is widespread and common in Singapore. Distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Indochina through Malaysia and Indonesia to Australia and the Southwest Pacific islands.
