Ecology, Habitat & Location

Distribution Breeds in temperate zone Eurasia, Russia, China, Korea, Japan. Generally uncommon; The wagtail is widespread throughout Singapore during the winter months where it is a winter visitor and passage migrant. It can sometimes be found in parks and golf courses with large undisturbed short grassy areas between Sep and Oct. During Sep and Oct, the wagtails are common on the many high technology agricultural farms adjacent to the wetland but only a few occasionally venture into Sungei Buloh mostly at the freshwater pond area and at the southern boundary of the wetland.
