| Description | Males are deep metallic-blue on forehead, lores, around eyes, chin, cheeks, throat and upper breast, contrasting with bright yellow underparts are distinctive features. Upperparts dull olive brown. Females have upperparts dull olive brown; underparts all yellow. |

Ecology, Habitat & Location
| Ecological Notes | Mainly nectivorous and insectivorous. Encountered visiting many flowering plants in forests, parks and gardens. During breeding season, it is seen actively foraging for insect amongst foliage. The nest is built often within reach of humans, usually on tip of a branch or on fences. |

| Distribution | Very common in suburban and urban habitats and very tolerant of human disturbance. Widespread throughout Singapore. Widely distributed from islands in the Bay of Bengal, southern China, throughout Southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea, northeast Australia and the Solomon islands. |
