Name
Ecology, Habitat & Location
Ecological Notes | A very few individuals seen over the years in low foliage of the forest on Bukit Timah hill. The group is presumed to be predatory as are all other Neuroptera but nothing is known in detail about this species. |

Habitats | Forest |
Distribution | The Berothidae as a whole are widespread in the Old-world tropics and subtropics, best known from Africa but always very uncommon. The Oriental fauna is rather poorly known and in the early years of the century only two species, then attributed to Berotha were known. Most Oriental species have been attributed to Costa’s genus Isoscelipteron and some have been described from Peninsular Malaysia, but true Berotha also occurs and our unidentified species does belong here. |
Nature Reserves | Bukit Timah Nature Reserve |
Conservation
Trends & Threats | Like all obligate fauna of primary forest in Singapore, the survival of our tiny population of Berotha depends entirely on the integrity and condition of the Bukit Timah forest. |
---|---|
Scientific Interest & Potential Value | The group as a whole requires taxonomic work. |
Conservation Notes | Continued conservation of the remaining primary forest cover in Singapore is the only means of conserving this species. |
Status
