Description | Oval-shaped and laterally compressed. Body brown, heavily mottled with black. Hind part of dorsal fin, anal fin, pectoral fins and tail fin translucent. Mouth very wide, its corners reaching to beneath hind margin of eye. |

Ecological Notes | Slow-flowing, well shaded forest streams. This fish is solitary and with its cryptic colouration, bears a strong resemblance to a piece of dead leaf. With this camouflage, it is able to sneak up to small fishes and prawns upon which it preys. |
