Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes A true forest species of which little is known. Feeds in the canopy and forest edge in small local flocks, usually with other species.
Habitats Forest, Terrestrial
Distribution Restricted to the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Birds believed to have been escapees have recently been found on Pulau Ubin. Also one recent record from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. This species occurs from east Pakistan to Indochina and Greater Sunda islands.

Trends & Threats Unviable population levels.
Scientific Interest & Potential Value The population in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve is long-standing , but records elsewhere in Singapore could be due to dispersal by populations in Malaysia.
Conservation Notes Population 10-15 birds. A detailed survey of the catchment area is needed to assess its actual numbers and territory in order to facilitate its conservation.
