Description Upperparts dark brown without stripes. Underparts whtie or buff. Tail short and bushy. Muzzle is pointed.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes This solitary, animal inhabits tall secondary and primary forest. It is active mainly on the ground, searching for insects and earthworms.

Distribution In the early part of the last century, this squirrel was common in the Changi jungle. Recently recorded only in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in 1985, 1989, 2004 and 2007. This species is found in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo.
