Scientific Interest & Potential Value | This secretive animal is extremely difficult to observe under natural conditions. Examples that have been encountered thus far have been caught in pitfall traps. C. fuliginosa is a complex of several cryptic species as suggested by genetic research. In Malaysia, more than one species is known to occur in some areas, but they cannot be satisfactorily defined by morphological differences. It thus offers great potential for studies by researchers and students to better understand its classification, habits, status and distribution. |
Conservation Notes | Protection of its natural habitat is vital to its survival. This tiny creature was first recorded in Singapore, at Bukit Timah, in 1973. |
