Description | Eyes black. Thorax dark, with yellow hairs on the rear margin. Abdomen black with smooth, opalescent bands; band colour may vary from yellow-green to bright blue. |
Ecology, Habitat & Location
Ecological Notes | One of the most common solitary bees in Singapore. Nests are constructed underground. Females have the ability to sonicate and access pollen from buzz-pollinated plants. Visits flowers of both native plants (e.g. Melastoma malabathricum, Ardisia elliptica) and cultivated edible plants (e.g. brinjal, chilli, tomato). |
