Certified Practising Horticulturist (CPH) Programme

Suitable For Experienced horticulture practitioners who meet the entry requirements.
Pre-requisites
  1. A relevant degree in horticulture or related discipline (e.g botany) or Diploma in Horticulture in Landscape Management or Diploma in Ornamental Horticulture with at least 3 years of direct work experience in horticulture /landscape industry. OR
  2. Attained a WSQ Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Parks Reserves and Gardens or Trade Certificate in Landscaping Practices with at least 4 years of relevant working experience in horticulture/ landscape industry. Applicants must show evidence of horticulture work experience honed from projects. OR
  3. Those with no related qualification but with at least 5 years of horticulture experience must submit a referee report* to attest to the applicant's horticulture experience in the landscape industry

*Applicants are to provide a referee report to attest to the applicant's working experience. Referees are expected to be industry practitioners with at least 10 years of relevant working experience and must show proof that they have worked with or supervised the applicants.

Accreditation Participants who have successfully achieved certification will be registered as Certified Practising Horticulturists with National Parks Board, Singapore. This certification is endorsed by Australia Institute of Horticulture and is valid for a period of three years. CUGE will provide professional development and upgrading opportunities for Certified Practising Horticulturists through professional workshops/seminars to achieve Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for re–certification. Overview

This is a professional recognition programme for practising horticulturists who wish to seek accreditation of their professional status. The programme is offered by the Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE), National Parks Board and is accredited with the Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH).

The desired outcome of this programme is to have a professional, competent and credible core group of horticulture practitioners and professionals to sustain and forge forward the premier brand of Singapore as a 'City in Nature'. The programme aims to recognise professional competencies of personnel in the horticulture industry. Certification will provide a means to identify professionals with a thorough knowledge of horticultural practices. This programme serves as continuing professional development for horticulture practitioners.

Trainers are locally-based industry horticulture practitioners who are either Certified Practising Horticulturists or experts in their area of teaching.
